Our Story
We use coffee breaks to break the glass ceiling.
Bandida believes the world would be a better place if women from diverse backgrounds were given more opportunities in business. We know actions are louder than words — Bandida is committed to sourcing ingredients from female farmers and producers from around the world, and building a brilliant cadre of women to power the business.
The name Bandida comes from the Spanish word for a female outlaw. She is a woman who lives by her own rules and creates the world she wants to live in.
Bandida was founded by Megan Meza in 2019.
Before she was tall enough to reach a real stove, Megan was hosting cooking shows in her Fisher-Price kitchen, courtesy of her mother’s 90's camcorder. Her passion for food was insatiable. After she graduated from Duke University she studied at the International Culinary Center in New York while balancing a full-time job as a customer strategist at an advertising agency.
Megan comes from a Marketing & Design Thinking background where she partnered with brands like Coca-Cola, Southwest Airlines, Philips, and Mondelez, leading global innovation initiatives, go-to-market plans, and customer engagement strategies. These experiences have given her a firm foundation for starting Bandida.
Being born and raised in San Diego, CA means tacos and horchata were an everyday part of life. Her father is a Mexican immigrant who instilled the entrepreneurial spirit in her. Her Mexican heritage has always been a source of inspiration for her culinary adventures. Today, she calls Brooklyn, NY home.
