What is horchata?

Horchata is a sweet and creamy rice-based drink that traditionally has warming spices like cinnamon and vanilla. It tastes like a hug in a glass!

 

What does horchata taste like?

Bandida’s Horchata Cold Brew is like riding a flavor roller coaster. It starts with a cool, creamy ascent with with a hint of sweetness from the cashews and dates. Then for the drop -- it comes in with the rich, chocolate undertones of our cold brew coffee and finally rounding out with warm vanilla and spicy cinnamon for a delightful end to your ride.

 

Does horchata contain milk?

Many traditional horchata recipes contain dairy-based milk or condensed milk, however, Bandida’s Horchata Cold Brew Coffee does not contain any milk or dairy. We’re vegan, baby!

 

What are the ingredients in Bandida’s Horchata Cold Brew?

Water, coffee, rice milk, cashew milk, coconut milk (organic coconut, water, organic guar gum), date syrup, vanilla extract, cinnamon, magic.

 

Where can I buy Bandida’s Horchata Cold Brew?

Currently we are doing online sales during specific windows. Prior to COVID-19, we were selling at Grand Army Plaza’s Farmers’ Market on Saturdays. We will be moving into retail this summer. For updates on where and when to buy, please sign-up for our email newsletter.

 

Where did horchata originate?

There are versions of horchata found all over the world, but Bandida’s Horchata Cold Brew is inspired by Mexican horchata. Spain and Nigeria also make a horchata or orxata from tigernuts. In Spain, it’s more commonly known as horchata de chufa and in Nigeria this beverage is known as kunnu aya.
